The Women of the Black Panther Party Coloring Book

The journey to create The Women of the Black Panther Party Activity Book is nothing short of amazing and one of my favorite projects today. The opportunity to create this activity book is a byproduct of the “Say Her Name,” tribute to the Women of the Black Panther Party Mural, that took place in Oakland, CA. What I initially thought would be a simple project quickly turned into a heavily researched and tireless commitment of personal exploration to understand exactly who the Black Panther Party was, their impact, and how we must carry on their legacy.

This activity book contains 36 pages of content including art, historical facts, classic coloring book activities, creative exercises, and critical thinking activities — all of which are intended to honor unsung, rank and file members in addition to the iconic members we have come to know and love.

Partnerships

The opportunities presented with this project go well beyond book sales. There are endless opportunities for collaboration and partnerships that will allow us to impact our communities for the good. There are discounted rates available for non-profits, education groups, and even individuals that have the right spirit and want to make a difference.

My recent collaboration was with the Tha Hood Squad — an art collective based out of East Palo Alto, CA. They serve unhoused communities throughout the Bay Area by providing hot meals, clothing, and health essentials for free. They purchased 30 coloring books and I purchased 30 marker sets, and together we spent the afternoon passing them out to the community along with meals and critical items.
